Bird Watching
While bird watching can be done throughout Malibu, a special birders' paradise is located adjacent to the Adamson House.
Known as one of the best places in Los Angeles County for bird watching, the Malibu Lagoon State Beach features 200 different varieties of shorebirds and migrating birds, including grebes, egrets, turns, gulls, ducks and cormorants. The entrance to the beach lies at the cross of PCH and Cross Creek Road. Surfrider Beach is also part of this state beach area. This beach is a favorite with surfers, try watching them from the Malibu Pier next to the hotel, or the gardens of the Adamson House. The beach is open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset.
