Guilford Glazer
Welder's son grew up in Knoxville, Tenn. College, then Navy service during WWII. Rejoined family business, expanded into real estate with apartment building for widowed mother. Built shopping centers 1950s and 1960s; moved to Los Angeles for better climate, opportunities. Opened 2.5-million-square-foot Del Amo Fashion Center 1971 in Torrance, Calif.; sold to Mills REIT for $442 million in 2003.
